Every app has a logo. Ours has a personality, a tail, and a habit of walking across keyboards at the worst possible moment.
An accidental mascot
When we were first sketching Nibbler, our actual cats kept inserting themselves into the process — literally, onto the keyboards. At some point a little orange character showed up in a design file, and it just… fit. Curious, a little cheeky, always nudging you toward the next small thing.
Why a mascot, really?
It's not just cute (though it is). Learning habits are emotional. A friendly companion that celebrates your streak and gently welcomes you back after a missed day does something a progress bar can't: it makes showing up feel good.
Research on habit formation keeps landing on the same idea — positive reinforcement and a sense of companionship help behaviours stick. Our mascot is that, in fur form.
What's next for the little guy
More animations, more personality, and — if a certain top-secret roadmap item works out — maybe even a voice. Peek at what's coming if you're curious.
